Solid Rock Carpenters is a group of volunteers, now more than 3,000 participants strong, who come together to help provide shelter for people in need.

Young and old, male and female, novice and skilled, first timers and experienced have all participated in construction and rebuilding projects in the Gulf Coast region since Katrina, Chicagoland and Joplin, MO. 

This past fall, Solid Rock Carpenters worked with the DuPage Habitat for Humanity on an exciting project framing walls for a townhome project in Glen Ellyn.   In just one day, all the walls for a 5 unit townhome were constructed in Glenview and later transported to the worksite.  Throughout the month of October, SRC assisted in raising the prebuilt walls. 

In November SRC sent its 36th group of volunteers to Joplin, MO.  In one weeks time, SRC built three homes from slab to roof.  Assisting the residents who were affected by the devistating tornado in Joplin, quickly became a highlighted trip for our SRC volunteers. 

December of 2012, 140 Solid Rock Carpenters traveled to New Orleans continuing in the ongoing restoration efforts and building homes and hope of our friends in the Gulf. The lasting effects of hurricanes Katrina and Issac are enourmous,  and SRC is blessed to continue assisting in their needs over the holidays.   

2013 is sure to be another productive year for SRC.   Our travels will take us to Joplin in March and November with plans to continue our efforts in helping those in need locally in Chicagoland, and over the holidays we will offer two trips, one to New Orleans and an international trip to Guatemala!!  Very exciting year and we look forward to helping our friends locally as well as around the world!
